That's everything we know about Hollow Knight Silksong so far. No update has since been given on a new release date. ![]() In a Tweet, Team Cherry's Marketing Director announced that the game will no longer hit its release window of the 'first half of 2023'. Hollow Knight Silksong delayed out of 'first half of 2023' We'll have to wait and see just how many new bells and whistles are included this time around, but, for now, the action is looking like more Hollow Knight - which is certainly not a bad thing. Generally, if you played Hollow Knight, it seems as though you'll be right at home with the gameplay in Silksong. Boss fights look to be a big part of Silksong, with the gameplay trailer released last year having shown off a couple of the main foes we'll be taking on. It's a Metroidvania game once again, meaning that certain areas are locked behind ability upgrades, with lots of backtracking involved. You'll explore different zones, slowly unlocking the map. So far, we've yet to see too much gameplay for Silksong, but what's been shown looks to be a continuation of the platforming/boss fighting of its predecessor. Once again, players will be able to find new abilities as they progress, giving them options for customizing Hornet. She is much more agile, able to dart and grapple around the world, with her needle weapon in hand. Also, I am just a flat out sucker for optional content in games, and Hollow Knight is chock-full of that stuff.Players will play as Hornet in Hollow Knight Silksong, who is a pretty stark contrast when compared to the Knight from the first game. Personally, I really enjoyed deciding on a charm layout for specific sections/ bosses, trying to discover what'd work in a given scenario against certain enemies. Clearly, this doesn't add anything specifically to the actual combat, but it does provide a healthy dose of variety in how you approach the enemies. there are a lot of unique enemies and locations in this game. hatchlings turn into little homing bombs w/ the charm you get from the dung beetle boss). And then some of these charms really come to life when synergized w/ others (e.g. attacking with hatchlings and/ or spiders having slowly regenerative health rather than using soul, etc). But then there's stuff that kinda change how you approach an enemy (e.g. more powerful attacks, longer nail, etc). Some of these are pretty pretty standard, but certainly helpful when the going gets tough (e.g. But I think the game does a good job in mixing things up in a few key areas.įirstly, let's talk about charms: there's 45 of 'em. And I'll be honest, if I hadn't played this game and just read my comment. Regarding combat, it's hard for me to argue against the point that it doesn't really "progress." For the vast majority of players, like ~90% of the damage you'll do in the game is w/ the same, simple nail strike you had at the beginning. So I might return after I get that ability. Though his fakeout slam seems a bit problematic without access to a double jump. Hollow Knight: Silksong is in development for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. After fighting Soul Tyrant, I know the fight is completely fair, and that with enough skill and practice, I could manage it without getting it. But I'm fully aware that I could just come back after I have more health and better charms. Mantis Lords took me 2 tries, Brooding Mawlek took me 5-6 tries, and Soul Tyrant looks like he's going to take me a lot of tries. Though the few optional bosses I've faced did kill me. The boss fights have all been fair as well. It was ported in 2018 to the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 by Jump Shark Studios. It was developed by Team Cherry and first released for Microsoft Windows on the 24th of February, 2017 then macOS, Linux. This one gave a deeper look at combat, and showed off some new bosses. Hollow Knight is a 2D side-scrolling action adventure video game in the Metroidvania style. Just enough danger to ensure I'm careful when I'm pushing with a large amount of souls without a map, but never hard enough to be frustrating. Hollow Knight: Silksong does not currently have a release date. I do dedicate a socket to the compass though. And since I now have the ability to get into Crystal Peak without the lantern, it seems like the obvious next intended region. Now I’ve opened up what appear to be optional paths to Deep Nest and Crystal Peak. And even just looking at the map it’s clear where I was ability blocked. Unless you forgot where Hornet went or something. ![]() The progression to each area has been made quite clear since you’re basically guided to them. I dunno, so far it’s been mostly obvious, even though I intentionally strayed from the path. I often see the complaint about not knowing what to do.
